Can't we all just get along?? I dream of a world where HP lovers and haters can co-exist in harmony! Don't bash me for my views, I won't try to convert you, and let's all be friends!! I'd like to think that we could respect each other's point of views on the subject- after all, they're just books.
I have never backed anything more. Josie, we have spoken a few times, you and my sister are blog buddies and such. I couldn't dislike harry potter any more than I already do. Liking or disliking HP is purely based upon taste, having said that I would like to state that the #1 sport in the USA is NASCAR. The #1 book is HP. I see a direct connection. Plus HP is complete fluff. The applicable life lessons of substance can be taken from the books. They are pure entertainment, nothing else. HP is like the drink Tang, complete sugar, nothing that will nourish and strengthen the body or mind. Also the fact that the books are 5th grade reading level speaks largely for the quality of literally content they lack. If you want unrealistic fiction you might as well watch the movies, takes less take. I also don't understand how people can justify the time/money they have spent reading all the books, when they could EASILY be doing more valuable things with that time and money. For example, service. I, myself can not justify reading those books when I don't provide enough service to my fellow man. I would rather attempt to help others than read about a boy whose testicles haven't even dropped and his magical antics. HP is absurd fiction which leads the reader nowhere. It contains no qualities that I wish to associate with. Its not a matter of being "too cool" or being "non-conformist", it has to do with the simple fact that HP lacks any valuable ascetics that can be incorporated into the improvement of oneself. HP is like a marshmallow, utterly useless. Concerning your friend who compared HP to the book of mormon, classic! The fact that one of the books is a non-fiction record of ancient people while the other is pure fantasy causes her poorly constructed argument to crumble quickly. One who prescribes to good common sense and a simple understanding of logic must be "LOL"ing their socks off at the silly post. Think of all the trees it took to print all the potter books. Was it worth it? not even close. Want entertainment? watch Flavor of Love or Blind Date, or whatever rubbish you tivo weekly.

Harry Potter people are like the people from high school that were into Dungeons and Dragons. Need I say more?
