thirty-three

What's in a day? A certain family member always tried to get me to believe that holidays are just another day, nothing special...but I think I am over this idea (except when it comes to new years eve). I am all about birthday celebrations. Especially, when the birthday is mine.

April 27, 2010 consisted of some pros and some cons, but in the end the pros for sure out weighed the cons.

Pro: two more days till I go to Palm Springs!
Con: really, two more days till I go to Palm Springs?

Pro: turned on my car after the gym and Ants Marching was on the radio.
Con: while at the gym (see previous post)

Pro: seeing Jeana Keough at the gym, she's my favorite housewife.

Pro: a dozen happy birthday emails when I woke up this morning
Con: having to wake up this morning while Eric slept in, did i mention it's my birthday?

Pro: strike is over, school is back to normal

Pro: going to PF with my families for dinner, sans kids. I am such a bad mom.
Con: listening to Eric tell me what a sacrifice it is for him to be going out to dinner when such a "pivotal game in the series" is being played at the Staples Center.

Pro: the Lakers winning

Pro: fun gifts, cards, money!

Pro: yummy lunch out

Pro: coming home from dinner to see my house "heart attacked" by my Mia Maids! Loved the rhyming girls.

Sad

It's really sad when upon entering the gym locker room you notice a 60
year old woman, who is getting dressed, wearing sexier underwear than
I have ever owned in my life.

It's been a while

Two weeks. Yikes. There really hasn't been anything big to blog about. I've been busy with church, we had Youth Conference last weekend. Our youth program is huge, 300+ youth in our stake. John Bytheway flew in to speak. Before he spoke I walked up to him (to see if he remembered me) and before I even said anything he blurted out, "you look familiar". I wonder if he says this to everyone so he doesn't make the person feel stupid when he doesn't remember you. He looked just the same as he did when he lived next door to us in Provo.

What else.....

Ethan has been losing teeth like crazy.

Baseball games

Tennis lessons

Made some burp cloths to get ready for baby Carter to arrive. Julie is scheduled to be induced next Monday!!!!

Getting crafty...

And last but certainly not least, getting ready to go here...

....I'm ok with turning a year older if I get to celebrate Westin style!!!

Spring Break 2010

Eric had to work the ENTIRE spring break this year. Huge bummer. So, I had to try and entertain my boys by myself. I decided we should go to the beach for a few days and we thought it would be even more fun with friends! The kids had a great time and I didn't get sunburned so I was happy. I must say, school is a blessing. I'm not very good at keeping the kids busy for long. I think Ethan is even missing it. Back to the grind on Monday.

Flying Cohen

I just found these pictures on Diane's computer. I wonder when this happened... maybe while we were in Colorado? Aren't grandma's the best?

Easter weekend

We had a great pre-spring break weekend with my sister Emily's family. The boys got to hang out with their buds from Boise - something they would do everyday if they could. My mom had an Easter egg hunt all planned, water balloons to throw, beach trips, even some private tennis lessons! They are already looking forward to July when they get to hang out again.

YANKEE!

Ethan has started his second season of little league. He's a Yankee this year which didn't excite us like last year when he was a Dodger, but we do like the pinstriped pants!! He's a great hitter, but still needs to work on his fielding.

The many faces/poses of Ethan....

AND THEN THERE IS MY OTHER CHILD.....

"Help, help, get me outta here"

Indecent exposure

Remember that line in Kindergarten Cop when that cute 5 year old announces that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina? Growing up I was not around male parts. I have four sisters. Now I have two boys. Two boys that fancy their male parts. Cohen is constantly fiddling. Whether is subconscious or not it bothers me. Ethan isn't as taken with his, thank goodness.

Well, the other day Cohen and I were eating lunch at a food court that's right next to a huge movie theater. I'm about half way through my meal and Cohen is bored. He's taken two bites of his food and is on to the next thing. He seriously has ADD when it comes to meal time (like this morning when he was supposed to be eating his pancakes but instead he was outside on his bike in the backyard - I said to him, Cohen come sit down and eat your breakfast and he says to me, mom, I am sitting down. AHHHHH), but I digress. So here I am mid-bite and he announces to me and the four other FULL tables around us that he needs to go potty. So I turn around and he has dropped his pants around his ankles and is taking aim on the closest plant he can find in the nearby planter. DIE. RED FACE. PANIC. My kid is about to urinate in a public food court planter with 15 other people watching. Again, DIE. So, of course I scoop him up and take him to the closest bathroom I can find only to have to return to my table among the 15 people who are now quite familiar with Cohen's male parts. I have never eaten so fast in my life.

A few hours later I told Eric this story....

J: I mean where did he get this from, he has never done this before.
E: Um, well... it's probably my fault.
J: I'm listening.
E: The other day when I took the boys on a bike ride they both had to go the bathroom so I told them to just find the closest bush.
J: Wow.
